Staff Spotlight: Megan Hendrickson

This week we turn the DEQ staff spotlight on Megan Hendrickson. From our Eugene office, Megan works with organizations using funds to repair and replace septic systems in Oregon.

What is your favorite part of working at DEQ?

I started during the pandemic. The first three months were a blur of phone calls, Teams messages, and emails of me saying, “You don’t know me, but I have a question.” Folks in the agency consistently responded with pleasant surprise and made onboarding a lot of fun.

For Earth Day this year, the theme is Investing in Planet Earth. What does this mean for you?

Investing in planet Earth means finding an equilibrium between the people who want to live in beautiful places and the needs of the planet to sustain itself.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

I want to observe history. See the volcano explode, the speech by an influential person, or see just how people did that interesting thing we haven’t figured out. Or the pyramids! Or seeing the natural disaster that inspired a legend. There are just so many things that would be incredible to see first-hand.
