DEQ to host webinar Aug. 12
Oregon DEQ will launch a major grant opportunity on Sept. 23, 2026, to reduce landfill methane emissions and increase food waste recovery through composting.

Funding comes through the federal Climate Equity and Resilience Through Action initiatives. It includes $1.7 million for small-scale projects (such as community composting, drop-off sites, and collection pilots) as part of the $28 million supporting GHG reduction through improved food waste recovery.
Eligible applicants include community organizations, non-profits, for-profits, and government entities. All projects must be completed in March 2029.
Additional funding of $25.7 million is available for large-scale infrastructure (including compost facility and anaerobic digestion expansions, transfer sites, and processing equipment).
